A key requirement of this role was to ensure the correct mix of
people management and technical management was adhered to. Management of
the architecture team was required as well as managing people in virtual
teams, often with a high mixture of line reporting in multiple
geographic locations. On a day to day basis people
management of 5 architects was required. On a role, programme or project
basis, virtual teams of up to 20 people have been managed to ensure
successful delivery of services. From December
2010 till October 2010 the architecture team was also responsible for
presales activities; however this was split out due to the conflicting
nature of consultancy and presales activities.

through extensive liaisons with the Chief Technical Architect and
Security Architect within Atkins Group IS to develop a ground up
solutionDirectly responsible for the design of the entire
client environment, including OS and applications build, and on-going

Server 2003This project was established to provide an
automated systems updating and applications deployment capacity in a
live environment, with minimal impact to the end usersDesigned a solution that provides
24/7 delivery capacity for both applications rollout and applications
patching and support for Atkins UKThe solution design made
allowances for third-party SMS extensions provided by 1e software.Windows XP Rollout and desktop hardware refreshThe aim of this project was to
provide an XP Pro rollout to 10,000+ client systems against a standard
image, alongside a full desktop hardware refreshInitially, this entailed the development of a
minimum technical specification, RFI and RFP guidance to the Atkins

This role started with a 2nd
line support role, then progressed onto 3rd line support and technical
design. This environment was a mixture of Wintel and novel technologies
including Active Directory, NT4, Exchange and Novel 4. Creation of
images and unattended installations of Windows 2000 and Windows XP to
ensure systems are built inline with corporate standardsDesigning and deploying new technologies

Greatest Geek Moment

The takedown on the Nachi and Blaster worms using my own custom scripts which
cleaned over 1500 infected machines when security vendors tools were
ineffective, resulting in resolution to a large business impacting
problem ending a number of days of severely reduced business
